Welcome to My Blog!

I cannot honestly say that I aspired to become a professional photographer since I was very young.  I always enjoyed taking pictures and seeing the results in the days before digital photography.  But I never thought of it as a potential career option for myself.  That is until I had my first child.  I assumed part of my responsibilities as a new parent was to take my child to have professional portraits taken at certain intervals.  So my husband and I would dress our baby up and take her to one of the mall studios for portraits.  We were never thrilled with the stiff posed pictures we always got.  I prefer candid, natural images where the subject isn't necessarily looking at the camera.  After a particularly disappointing session at a mall studio for our daughter's first Christmas, I decided to try to set up a makeshift studio in my tiny townhouse living room.  We stripped our daughter down to her diaper, put a Santa hat on her, and laid her in her Boppy pillow draped with a black bed sheet.  We were amazed at the finished image and it still hangs in our house.  Since then, I have been fascinated with photography and want to learn as much as possible, so that I can bring these kind of images to other families, and possibly call myself a professional photographer one day.
